Section 1

Who we are

This website is operated by AI Prompt Theory and our website address is https://aiprompttheory.com. We publish articles about AI, prompt engineering and related tools, and we offer a suite of free WordPress plugins together with the guides that explain how they were built. This policy describes every way this site touches visitor data — including the data handled by our own plugins running on this very site.

Section 2

Comments & media

When visitors leave comments we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor's IP address and browser user-agent string to help spam detection. An anonymised hash of your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it; Gravatar's privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside it.

If you upload images to this website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included — visitors can download images and extract any location data they contain.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Section 3

Cookies & stored preferences

If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email and website in cookies for your convenience; these last one year. If you visit the login page a temporary cookie checks whether your browser accepts cookies — it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Logging in sets cookies for your session and display preferences (two days to two weeks, or one year for screen options); logging out removes them. Editing or publishing an article saves a cookie containing only the post ID, expiring after one day.

View counting: a small cookie named aipt_pva_seen remembers which posts you have already viewed so you aren't counted twice. It contains a list of post numbers only — no personal information whatsoever.

Theme preference: if you use the light/dark switch, your choice is stored in your own browser (localStorage) so the site remembers it. This value never leaves your device and is not a tracking technology.

Section 4

Analytics (our own, privacy-first)

We measure how our content performs using our own plugin, AIPromptTheory Insight — the same one we offer for free download. It records aggregate view counts together with the referring website's domain, your device class (desktop, mobile or tablet), browser family and language preference. It also measures, in aggregate, how far down a page visitors scroll, so we can tell whether articles are actually read.

What it deliberately does not do: IP addresses are anonymised and never stored with view data; no advertising identifiers are used; no individual visitor profiles exist or can be reconstructed; nothing is sold or shared with anyone. Analytics rows older than our retention period are automatically and permanently deleted.

Section 5

Spam protection

Forms on this site — comments, login, registration and contact forms — are protected by our AIPromptTheory Shield plugin. When you submit a form, your IP address and browser user-agent are processed in real time to detect automated spam. Attempts that are blocked are logged (the IP address, the reason, and the page involved) so we can audit for false positives; these logs are automatically deleted after our retention period. Legitimate submissions are not added to the spam log.

Section 6

Plugin downloads & add-on requests

If you request one of our free plugins or add-ons through a form on this site, we collect your email address and your selection. We use these solely to send you the download and to notify you when the add-on you asked for ships. Your email is not added to any marketing list, is never shared with third parties, and you can ask us to delete it at any time using the contact details on this site.

Section 7

Embedded content & Google services

Articles on this site may include embedded content (videos, images, posts from other sites). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website: those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content — especially if you have an account and are logged in there.

This site uses Google Site Kit for search performance data. Where Google services collect data, Google's own privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy. Visitor comments may also be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Section 8

Retention & your rights

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be approved automatically. Registered users (if any) can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time, except their username; administrators can also see and edit it. Analytics and spam logs are purged automatically on the schedules described above.

If you have an account, have commented, or have submitted a download request, you can ask to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, and you can ask us to erase it. This does not include data we must keep for administrative, legal or security purposes. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the details published on this site.
